Our Services in Brentwood

Absolute Maintenance & Consulting provides all seven of its services serving Brentwood.

Water Damage Restoration

Storm water and mud can reach the lower rooms of canyon homes. Our water damage restoration work extracts flood and storm water, dries the structure and repairs the entry point.

Water Intrusion and Leak Detection

In a large custom home or behind a mid-century glass wall, the stain is often far from the leak. Our water intrusion work uses thermal imaging and moisture mapping to find the joint that lets water in.

Waterproofing

Our waterproofing work covers roofs with many planes, decks, and the walls of canyon houses that face the slope.

Stucco Repair

Stucco on hillside homes can crack as the ground settles, and heat from a nearby fire can crack it too. Our stucco repair work closes those cracks before rain gets behind the wall.

Mold Remediation

Mold can follow firefighting water that soaks an attic and its insulation, or a slow leak behind a glass wall. Our mold remediation work removes it once the water source is fixed.

Fire and Smoke Damage Restoration

Homes the Getty and Palisades fires threatened but didn’t burn can still hold smoke, ash and firefighting water. Our fire damage restoration service cleans and dries them; see water damage from firefighting for the drying side.

Commercial Restoration and Waterproofing

Our commercial restoration and waterproofing work serves estate managers, private schools and institutions, and the homeowners’ associations of hillside communities such as Crestwood Hills.

Why Brentwood Homes Take On Water and Fire Damage

Brentwood homes take damage in three local ways: fire in the hills north of Sunset, runoff on canyon floors, and the joints of glass walls and big custom roofs. Sunset Boulevard splits the neighborhood: the ridges and canyons of the Santa Monica Mountains lie north of it, and mostly flat streets lie south.

Fire Exposure in the Hills North of Sunset

Homes in the hills north of Sunset can take smoke, ash and firefighting water even when the flames never reach them. These hills are in a CAL FIRE Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone. The Getty Fire burned 745 acres in Brentwood in October 2019 and forced evacuations from Temescal Canyon Road to the 405. In January 2025, the Palisades Fire spread into Mandeville Canyon, and aircraft dropped water on the canyon. We clean smoke and ash, dry firefighting water in attics and insulation, and check for the mold that follows.

Canyon Floors and Burned Slopes

Homes on canyon floors take water, mud and debris from the slopes on both sides, as along the Mandeville, Kenter and Sullivan canyon roads. Burned slopes shed more of all three in the rainy seasons after a fire. When debris blocks the drainage paths around a house, water heads for doors and lower walls. We find where it gets in, dry what’s wet and waterproof the walls that face the slope.

Mid-Century Glass and Large Custom Homes

Large glass walls and big custom roofs give rain many joints to get through. Crestwood Hills is known for mid-century modern houses designed by A. Quincy Jones, and houses of this style often have large glass walls and low-slope roofs. Estates in Brentwood Park and the canyons add roof planes, decks and roof-to-wall joints. In a big house, a leak can show up far from where it gets in, so we use water testing to prove the entry point.

Fire, runoff or a glass wall leak? We find the entry point first.

Brentwood Neighborhoods We Serve

We serve all of Brentwood, and its neighborhoods differ mostly by terrain and the kind of house.

Mandeville Canyon

Mandeville Canyon, the westernmost part of Brentwood, is one road running about three miles into the mountains. The Palisades Fire reached it in January 2025.

Sullivan Canyon

Sullivan Canyon is mostly equestrian properties, where a barn may need checking along with the house.

Crestwood Hills

Crestwood Hills, on the ridges north and east of Kenter Canyon, mixes original mid-century modern houses with rebuilds; the 1961 Bel Air fire destroyed dozens of the first ones.

Mountaingate

Mountaingate and the hills near the 405 were inside the Getty Fire evacuation zone in 2019.

Brentwood Park

Brentwood Park has large estates on the streets bordered by Oakmont, San Vicente, Allenford and Cliffwood.

Brentwood Glen and South of Sunset

In Brentwood Glen and the flat streets south of Sunset, roof and window leaks matter more than runoff.

Across the 405 to the east, West Los Angeles has its own page, with different building stock. The other Westside communities we serve are on our areas we serve page.

Custom Hillside Home Experience

Cameron Figgins, our founder, provided water intrusion consultation for entertainment-industry clients from 2008 to 2014. That work covered water damage, weatherproofing and mold remediation in custom homes in Hollywood Hills, Bel Air, Beverly Hills and Studio City. None of it was in Brentwood, but Bel Air, just east across the 405, has the same kind of large hillside custom homes.

Brentwood FAQs

Yes. Smoke and ash get into homes that are still standing, and firefighting water can soak roofs, attics and walls. We inspect the house, clean the smoke and ash, dry what’s wet, and check attics, insulation and walls for mold before it spreads.

Yes. We serve all of Brentwood, north and south of Sunset, including the canyon roads. Canyon homes can take runoff, mud and debris against their lower walls after heavy storms, especially below burned slopes. Call (310) 678-4345 with your address and we’ll set up an inspection.

Water gets in where large glass walls meet frames, roofs and floors, because aging seals at those joints let rain through. Low-slope roofs add more joints. We find the one that leaks, and when the entry point has to be proven, we use ASTM E1105 water testing, the field test standard for water penetration through windows, curtain walls and doors.
