Water in your studio? We dry and repair it without tearing the room apart.
Recording Studios and Media Rooms We Restore
We restore home studios, commercial studios and media rooms with the same drying process. What changes is how the room was built. Studio walls are often two layers of drywall on separate framing with insulation between, floors may float on isolation layers, and panels and bass traps cover the surfaces where water hides.
Home Studios
Home studios in garages, guest houses and spare rooms often sit in converted space. A flat roof, an old garage door opening or a window is the usual way water gets in.
Commercial Studios and Media Rooms
Commercial studios and media rooms in larger buildings can take water from a roof or unit above, so we trace the source beyond the room and keep one written record for the owner and the studio.
Signs of Water Damage in a Recording Studio
In a studio, the first signs usually hide behind the treatment. Look for:
- A stain on the ceiling or wall above acoustic panels or bass traps
- A musty smell in a vocal booth or control room
- Fabric-wrapped panels that look discolored or sag
- Damp carpet near a converted garage door or exterior wall after rain
- Humidity that stays high even with the HVAC running
A studio wall can look dry on the face while the insulation inside stays wet. If moisture sat long enough for growth to start, mold remediation removes it and fixes the moisture problem behind it.

Our Studio Water Damage Restoration Process
We keep the gear safe, find the wet areas without tearing into the room, stop the source, then dry and rebuild. Studios dry slower than most rooms because thick insulation, double walls and floating floors hold water. That’s why a fast start matters: the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency advises drying water-damaged materials within 24 to 48 hours to prevent mold growth.
1. Emergency Call and Power Safety
Call (310) 678-4345 as soon as you see water, and keep wet equipment unplugged and switched off. Powering up a console, amp or computer to see if it still works can turn a drying job into a replacement.
2. Non-Invasive Inspection
We map moisture with meters and thermal imaging before we open anything. Our thermal imaging leak detection shows wet areas behind panels and inside walls without cutting into the room.
3. Protecting Gear and Treatment
We help you move equipment, instruments and cables out of wet rooms, and we take down wet panels and traps so the wall behind them can dry. We photograph what comes out so it goes back where it was.
4. Finding and Stopping the Source
We trace the water to where it entered and repair that opening before drying. Rising water in a garage or below-grade studio gets our flood damage restoration process, since that water is contaminated.
5. Controlled Drying
We set drying equipment based on the moisture readings and recheck until walls, floors and insulation return to normal dry levels. We also keep humidity in check for gear and wood instruments in nearby rooms.
6. Rebuilding
We rebuild drywall, insulation and finishes once the room is dry, and hand our photos and notes to whoever replaces the acoustic treatment.
How Much Does Studio Water Damage Restoration Cost?
Studio water damage restoration is priced by the scope of the job, in a written estimate after an inspection that costs $375 to $775. The price depends on how many rooms got wet, how much treatment and insulation has to be replaced and what the source repair takes.
| Service | Price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Basic Inspection | $375 to $575 | About 15 to 20 minutes with an infrared camera |
| Detailed Inspection | $575 to $775 | Up to about 1 hour for one household or unit up to 3,000 sq. ft. |
| Repairing the entry point (weatherproofing or waterproofing) | $2,275 to $2,600 | For a small project (up to 3,000 sq. ft.) or $3,000 to $10,000 for a medium one (3,000 to 10,000 sq. ft.) |
Water testing isn’t included in inspection prices. When we do the work, the fee for a Basic or Detailed Inspection is credited toward the cost of the work. Multi-Unit / Larger Property Inspection fees and water testing fees are not credited.
Our water damage insurance claims support gives your insurer a record of what got wet and why. Coverage for the room, the gear and the treatment is the insurer’s call.

Recording Studio Water Damage FAQs
Can you save my audio equipment?
We don’t repair electronics, but we help protect them by getting gear out of wet rooms, drying the space around it and documenting what got wet. Keep wet equipment unplugged until a qualified electronics technician checks it.
Do you have to remove acoustic panels and treatment?
Only the ones that got wet or hide wet walls. Thermal imaging and moisture meters tell us which panels, traps and wall sections need to come down. Soaked fabric-wrapped panels often can’t be dried well and are replaced. Dry ones stay put.
Who replaces specialty acoustic treatment?
Your acoustic installer does, and we give them what they need to match it. We rebuild the drywall, insulation and finishes, and our photos and notes record what was on each wall before it came down.
Can I send photos of the damage before you come out?
Yes. Email them to info@leakmoldrepair.com with your name, the property address and a short description, plus a shot of the outside wall, roof edge or window near the wet area. We’ll review them and reply with our initial assessment.
